This high-quality beer is made only with original nordic ingredients, and is a true example of the original Danish ale made in the 1830's before the lager revolution.
It resembles the kind of ale made in Paver Street (Brolæggerstræde) where "The New Carlsberg Foundation" is located today.

The special barley, called “Gammel Dansk” (original old Danish landrace barley variety) was raised in the beginning of the last century by the Danish peasants but abandoned due to a low yield. The hops are an original Carlsberg variety developed by the Carlsberg Research Centre in the beginning of the last century. The hops are named Hallertau Jacobsen as the first batch comes from the Hallertau area near Munich.
